Phenomenal Women Global (PWG) is a nonprofit organization based in Switzerland and Uganda with a mission to connect, advance and empower women and girls by supporting their personal and professional growth; developing leadership skills; coaching and mentoring.
We create safe spaces to discuss strategies from women advancing in leadership, career and business and potential challenges faced, as well as eliminating discrimination against women and gender based violence, that stifles women’s progress. By placing emphasis on leadership training and mentoring especially for women from under served communities, we seek to promote their participation in decisions that affect their lives, in particular on national and global issues.
We are a truly intergenerational organization that harnesses the strength of women and girls cross-culturally and promotes interdisciplinary thought leadership and knowledge sharing between women and men leaders from diverse economic, social, cultural and political spheres of influence.
Cognizant that women are less likely than men to have the education, contacts and resources needed to become effective leaders, and that currently, as of 2019 women make up only 25 percent of parliamentarians globally (according to UN Women statistics) ;
Noting that UN General Assembly resolution on women’s political participation (2011) relays that, “Women in every part of the world continue to be largely marginalized from the political sphere, often as a result of discriminatory laws, practices, attitudes and gender stereotypes, low levels of education, lack of access to health care and the disproportionate effect of poverty on women;”
PWG prioritizes building leadership capacity in women, young girls and investing in the education of youth as critical to achieving our vision and mission. Individual women have overcome these obstacles with great acclaim, and often to the benefit of society at large. However, for women as a whole, the playing field needs to be level, opening opportunities for all.
In this light our gender specific programmes integrate the PWG model of feminine leadership – “Socially Conscious Global Leader”. a purpose-driven leader with a sense of concern and awareness of the problems and injustices of society, who challenges bias, is self-aware, and able to influence change using her feminine qualities.
A woman who values the diversity of collective leadership, and has a passion for continual learning, and empowering others.
The 3P’s: Purpose, Power, and People, are key components to this leadership model and are integrated in all our programs.
PWG aligns itself with international and regional standards for the protection and promotion of women’s rights in particular the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women that upholds women’s right to participate in public life, while the Beijing Platform for Action calls for removing barriers to equal participation. The Sustainable Development Goals , in particular Goal 5- Gender Equality measures progress towards gender equality and list specific targets in part by the proportion of women in parliamentary seats.
